After a young John Paul Getty III is kidnapped by an organized crime regime, his devoted mother, Gail, desperately attempts to convince his wealthy grandfather, oil tycoon J. Paul Getty to pay the ransom. When Getty Sr. refuses, Gail attempts to sway him as her son's captors become increasingly volatile and brutal.
